Oscars Speech

Seeing as its the Oscars later.....the founders of MK Cat Rescue would like to make a tiny speech......so this weekend we have raised an incredible amount of money which will help tide us over for the next month or so.

We would like to thank...gets speech out ......Nikki (for coming out to deliver the tombola when she really should have been tucked up in bed resting as she's poorly), Tracey for showing Claire how to haggle, Sue for donating her beautiful drawings and Sandy f...or hanging in there with Carole when it was blinking freezing on Saturday afternoon.

To Kath & Barb, your friendliness and advice meant that a lovely lady contacted us about adopting Reggie and that beyond anything has made our weekend. Lovely, sweet Reggie is reserved.

To Colin, Rosemary, Karen, Donna, Sue, Nikki's auntie Valda & anyone else (oh the lovely lady who had an indoor bunny...called Bunny!) who donated money or kitten food, thank you thank you thank you.....oh that's the music cutting in - we're overwhelmed - thank you x

Come In From Outside Little One

On Sunday the 20 February 2016 Hayley contacted us via our facebook page asking for help with a cat that had been living under her shrubs in her front garden for the last four weeks.

We popped out expecting to see a rather solid tom cat but found a very scared but friendly little fella who was under a year old.

He had a tiny cut to his ear which we bathed with salty water and sadly no beep when scanned for a chip.
We put a paper collar on him and after having some treats he wandered off so we hoped he was heading home. Sadly by late afternoon despite the cold wind that was blowing he was trying to find shelter under the shrub.

We took the decision to bring him into the warm as quite frankly we saw a number of un-neutered tom cats in the area and clearly this little one was struggling to keep them at bay.  So for his owns safety we prioritised him to come into our care.

Yet unclaimed we are arranging to get him vet checked and neutered.  If no owner comes forward then we'll make sure he finds a nice, safe and warm loving home to call his own.

Bye Bye Rupert

Our lovely lad Rupert went off to his forever home last night which means we have a foster space to bring in another cat.

We've been working with a lady in North MK for some months now to trap an entire tom that visits her house twice a day.  He is rather dirty, smelly and needs a bit of love and tlc.  We now have three cats of similar circumstances and descriptions to get sorted but its a good thing we love our tom cats!

Despite putting up posters and scanning him for a chip (paper collar on as well) no one has come forward so all being well we will get him into foster in the coming days.

We'll keep everyone posted as to how we get on.

We're on E-Bay

We’re dipping our toes into selling items on Ebay to help raise much needed funds to help the cats in our community.

And hot off the press we've just sold our first item!

Please do have a look and see if there is anything on there that you may wish to bid on.

Name Appeal For Our Bengal Cross Kittens

We had great fun this week trying to help Stewart find names for his two foster kittens.  Being bengal crosses and coming into our care having been found living in someone's shed it is a challenge to help socialise them so that they can be rehomed.

We will give it our best shot but we know they are both female and we will pay for them to be neutered next week.

We received just over 53 comments on our facebook page when we asked our friends on there to help name them.  The posting was seen by nearly 2000 people yikes!

Having considered all the suggestions, Stewart confirmed that their names are Xena and Sheba.
